Description
In Markham, a town known for its award-winning Yorkshire ale and two rival breweries, a death occurs. Brendan Scholes, back in town and claiming to possess a lost secret recipe, is found dead in a fermentation tank, his skull crushed by a hammer. DCI Oldroyd and Andy Carter investigate.
Scholes’ return had already stirred resentment between the breweries’ owners, a brother and sister. As rumors of the famous beer recipe circulate, amid rising homophobia and misogyny, tensions escalate. With the town's beer industry threatened and a killer at large, Oldroyd must find the murderer before last orders.
