Ocean Vuong is a Vietnamese American novelist and poet who received a MacArthur Fellowship for work that moves between verse and prose with equal force. Born on a rice farm in Saigon, he immigrated to the United States at age two and grew up in Hartford, Connecticut, where he became the first person in his family to learn to read.
His poetry collection Night Sky with Exit Wounds won multiple awards and established his voice as urgent, lyrical, and unflinching.
