Christine Carbo is an American crime novelist who writes atmospheric thrillers set in the wild terrain of Montana. At twelve she left Gainesville, Florida, for Kalispell, Montana, and the landscape took hold in a way that would shape her work decades later.
Before she found her way to writing, Carbo earned a pilot's license, chased adventures in Norway, and worked briefly as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. She eventually returned to Montana for graduate school in Missoula, earning an MA in English and Linguistics, and taught college-level writing and linguistics for over a decade. Glacier National Park became the anchor for her fiction, and the crime novels she writes now are rooted in the backcountry, where the terrain is as much a character as the investigators who navigate it.
Her work has earned the Women's National Book Association Pinckley Prize, the Silver Falchion Award, and the High Plains Book Award, and she was a finalist for the Barry Award.
