Description
In 1950, a young doctor named Norton Perina joins an expedition to a remote Micronesian island in search of a rumored lost tribe. They discover not only the tribe but also a group of forest dwellers they call "The Dreamers," who possess an extraordinary longevity but suffer a decline in their minds. Perina believes the secret lies with a rare turtle, and he smuggles some of its meat back to America. His discovery brings him worldwide fame and a Nobel Prize, but this miraculous property comes at a terrible price. As events quickly spiral out of his control, his own demons take hold, leading to devastating personal consequences for the islanders and for Perina himself.
