Description
What would it take to make you intervene? Ella Longfield overhears two men flirting with teenage girls on a train, dismissing it until she realizes the men are recently released from prison. Her maternal instinct flares, but as she prepares to call for help, she hesitates. The next day, one of the girls, Anna Ballard, vanishes.
A year later, Anna is still missing, and Ella is consumed by guilt. She's not the only one haunted by the event. Threatening letters arrive, making Ella fear for her life. An anniversary appeal unearths that Anna's loved ones may not be entirely truthful. Her best friend, Sarah, hides secrets about that night, and Anna's parents have their own hidden truths. Someone knows Anna's whereabouts, but they aren't talking. Instead, they are watching Ella.
